From Ivy League to Great Colleges

The end of March signals the wrap up of college decisions.  Versan fared well, with a 85 percent success rate college acceptances.

In the boarding school category, we had 100 percent placement.  This was our SSAT group.

The SAT group saw 85% placement.

The GRE/ GMAT/ LSAT groups are not yet complete.

There were some hit and misses, but overall, a long list of acceptances.

Now on to the other hurdle: financing an education....let us meet individually to discuss the options, families.

ACCEPTANCES

The list was too long, so I reserve for next week.

See you all next week!

Dear Sandra,

I am pleased to announce that we have just launched our application for our program for current high school students interested in university enrollment in September 2025 and 2026, the NYU Abu Dhabi Design Lab

We are excited to bring back this program in summer 2024 to allow more flexibility for students and their families. NYU Abu Dhabi Design Lab was created to help students who are one or two years away from applying to college to get a glimpse of life as an undergraduate student at NYU Abu Dhabi. This program is open to all students with interest in all academic fields, not just those focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, but also in the humanities, arts, social sciences, and other academic areas. Selected students will spend three days on campus collaborating with faculty and current students on designing a project that addresses the issue of humanity and artificial intelligence.

In conjunction with the design challenge, students will also have the opportunity to learn more about the application process to NYU Abu Dhabi and other American Universities. Upon completion of the program, not only will your students have a taste of university-level learning and problem solving, but also some insights into planning the next steps of their educational journeys.

The program will take place May 30-June 2 and is open to rising 11th and 12th graders —equivalent to years 12 and 13 in the British system. All expenses will be covered for the duration of the program and students will only be required to pay for their flights to and from Abu Dhabi, or local transportation to campus.

If you have an exceptional student in mind, we'd like to invite you to nominate them using this form by April 15, 2024. Once complete, your nominee will be prompted to submit their portion of the application, which opens on March 27th and is due by April 20, 2024.

As a bonus, should your student be selected to participate in the program and you haven't already had the opportunity to join one of our fly-ins, we would like to invite you to join them in Abu Dhabi for a concurrent Counselor Weekend. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about NYU Abu Dhabi. Expenses include a round-trip economy ticket from your nearest international airport, as well as meals and accommodations for the duration of the program.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to nyuad.admissions@nyu.edu

UNC Asheville Extends Enrollment Deadline to May 15, 2024; Institutes Waitlist

Dear counselors,I write to share that first-year and transfer students who have been admitted to the University of North Carolina Asheville as recently as March 26, 2024, will now have until Wednesday, May 15, 2024 (11:59 p.m. local time), to make their college decision. In light of challenges with the Department of Education's processing of this year’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), we must ensure that students who need to review financial aid packages have everything they need to make the most informed decision possible for their college choice.

Any deadlines that enrolled students must consider after committing to UNC Asheville, such as housing applications, have been updated to accommodate this change. The Office of Financial Aid is available to answer any questions families may have about financial aid, cost, and affordability at UNC Asheville, no matter where they are in the college search process. A variety of options are available:In-person meeting: Brown Hall second floor, M-F 9 a.m.-5 p.m.Virtual meeting: uncafinancialaid.setmore.comEmail: finaid@unca.eduPhone: 828.251.6535

Additionally, the UNC Asheville Office of Admission has revised our decision outcomes to include a small waitlist. Students who are extended this opportunity are asked to complete a brief Waitlist Response Form by Wednesday, May 1 to confirm their spot. We will notify candidates of their waitlist decision no earlier than June 1 and no later than July 31.

We do not rank our waitlist. If spaces become available, the waitlist is reviewed in full.If we are unable to offer a place in the class for Fall 2024, waitlisted students have the opportunity to request acceptance into the Spring 2025 semester as a first-year student. Accepting this offer means they cannot enroll at another college or university in the fall.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions for the Office of Admission.

You can contact us via email at admissions@unca.edu or 828.251.6481.
