Many students have waited till the last minute to complete their applications. Just fair warning to new students, do not repeat this behavior.
I am appalled at students who have incomplete applications. IDOC forms undone....what does that mean for the future? Procrastination is a terrible thing...it often means missed opportunities, because we are a day late and a dollar short. Get out those diaries, set your deadlines, use your days effectively. Plan ahead.
SAT REGISTRATION
Grab your diaries and note, February 25 is the deadline to register for the March 11 exam.
The experimental digital exam held in Nov 2022 has just released the results. Our students who did it fared well, even better than those who did the traditional exam. That spells good news for students now enrolled. We just have to tweak a bit how we teach our modules.
ACCEPTANCES
So many are hearing about acceptances, deferrals and rejections. Tally up your list, wait until you hear from everyone before you leap. We will assist you in the decision- making process.
FAREWELL
Our Farewell Ceremony is held every year in May. We discuss a lot of topics:
Student Visas
Roommates
Making money in college
Job opportunities
Saving money while in College
Items for dorm rooms
Travel discounts
Networking on Campus
And other relevant topics to aid you during your college venture overseas. Watch this space for the date, place and time.
We welcome Ms. Thompson to the Versan crew.
See you next week.
Dear Sandra,
Did you hear the news? The University of Miami will extend its test optional admission process for first-year students applying for Fall 2024. What does this mean? Your students will be able to decide if they want to submit SAT or ACT scores with their application. We hope the extension of test optional admission will relieve some of the stress surrounding the application process.
If they opt not to submit test scores, it will not make them any less likely to be admitted or receive scholarship awards. The University of Miami’s holistic admission review considers all aspects of their application, including extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation. In addition, there will be a supplemental essay component to our Common Application.
I encourage you to share this message with your juniors and their parents. They are invited to join us for an upcoming Admission Information Session to ask questions about our test optional admission process, academics, or community. They can also visit our Test Optional page for frequently asked questions or contact their admission counselor.
We look forward to our continued partnership in helping each of your students find their individual path. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, Nate Crozier Assistant Vice President Undergraduate Admission and Marketing admissions.miami.edu
