Yes, classes are back in session. Well, Kingston classes that is. Mobay will resume next week. I must say Versan had its share of procrastinators as many worked till the last hour of a school's deadline to get all their applications in, equally pulling me in the undertow to check essays, files, et al. I want to urge all my students to organize their time better. Use diaries in 2022. Effectively challenge yourselves to plan, organize and use the hours of the day efficiently. College, boarding schools and graduate studies will need it.
Acceptances
These acceptances for Versan students are rolling in. I am happy. Students, having evaluated scores from the December exam now know that what you put in is what you get out.
One has to engage teachers during the process, one has to practice feverishly. One cannot just cram the night before. Oft to no avail.
Loans
So, for a few acceptances, some of you got partial scholarships. How do you pay the rest? Please see me about this as we can facilitate families with the knowledge and preparation.

Each year Barnard’s Office of Pre-College Programs invites young women from across the globe to join us in one of our academic enrichment programs in the humanities, STEM, leadership, writing, coding and more.
This Summer, we are excited to bring our summer programs back in-person and on-campus in New York City. Whether your student wants to spend their summer uncovering the elegance of physics, debating United Nations policy, perfecting your poetry, earning college credit, or learning to code — we have a program for them! Our priority deadline to waive the application fee is less than two weeks away! Students should apply by January 17th to pay no application fee. All applications submitted after this date is subject to a $75 application fee.

Dear Sandra, Happy New Year from Carnegie Mellon University! We hope you’re doing well and that your spring term is off to a great start. As we begin a new academic year, we'd like to share some important updates and reminders for the upcoming year.
Early Decision: Round 1 Overview
We sincerely appreciate the support you provided for your Early Decision: Round 1 applicants to Carnegie Mellon this year.
For Fall 2022, we saw a 15% increase in Early Decision: Round 1 applications over last fall. You may have seen the effects of this application growth in your slate of candidates this year. We’re excited to welcome these Tartans to our campus for Fall 2022.
Important Spring 2022 Dates
January 15, 2022: Deadline for applicants to submit updates and supporting materials. We'll continue to accept documents from high school and community-based organization contacts after this point.
Late January 2022: Admission decisions released for Early Decision: Round 2 applicants.
February 1, 2022: Enrollment deposit deadline for students admitted through Early Decision: Round 1.
February 15, 2022: Recommended deadline for Regular Decision applicants to submit their financial aid application materials, and enrollment deadline for students admitted through Early Decision: Round 2.
Late March 2022: Admission decisions released for Regular Decision applicants.
May 2, 2022: Enrollment deposit deadline for students admitted through Regular Decision.
Information for High School Juniors
Many of you have likely begun conversations with your current high school juniors about their college search. The following information may helpful as you're assisting them:
Carnegie Mellon will offer a full slate of in-person Pre-College Programs for summer of 2022, welcoming high school students to experience arts, technology or sciences on our campus. Learn more about Pre-College deadlines and application requirements. Scholarships and financial aid are available for admitted students based on financial need.
The Office of Admission will once again offer our virtual Admission Insights Series later this spring, featuring sessions about how admission decisions are made, writing college application essays, financial aid and more. Students looking for more information on these topics now can watch recordings from our summer 2021 Admission Insights Series.
Given the time our staff devotes to reviewing admission applications, we're unable to schedule high school visits outside of our typical recruitment season, which is in September and October. We hope to connect with you and your students during the fall. In the meantime, we encourage your students to take advantage of our online and in-person visit opportunities.
Carnegie Mellon's COVID Response
We know that safety is a top priority for you and your students, which includes how institutions are handling the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Carnegie Mellon takes the health and safety of our entire community seriously. To that end:
Carnegie Mellon requires that all students, faculty and staff are vaccinated against COVID-19, including a booster when eligible, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption. As of December 2021, 98% of Carnegie Mellon students, faculty, and staff are fully vaccinated.
Carnegie Mellon built its own lab to test community members for COVID-19, making it possible for all Tartans to receive free, regular asymptomatic tests.
Carnegie Mellon created early partnerships with healthcare providers to help provide access to COVID-19 vaccines and continues to offer vaccine and booster clinics on campus.

Happy New Year! I hope that you had the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate during the much-deserved holiday break. The end of the year became more unpredictable than perhaps many of us had anticipated, thanks to the Omicron variant. However, I hope that you were still able to connect with loved ones and enjoy some meaningful time away from the office.
I’m writing to start the year off with an exciting announcement: Boston University will be test optional for first-year applicants applying for fall 2023 and spring 2024. I trust this will be good news for your current juniors.
Here are some important facts for you to know:
This policy applies to all undergraduate schools and colleges at Boston University and all scholarship programs.
Applicants will have the option to indicate whether they would like us to consider their standardized test scores when they apply. For the fall 2021 enrolled class, only 42% of students submitted standardized test scores.
International students will still be required to submit the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo test as the primary means for evaluating English-language proficiency.
While the admissions process at Boston University has always been holistic and decisions have never been based solely on one single factor, such as an SAT or ACT score, the move to test optional over the past two years has improved our process by adding considerable weight to the important qualities and characteristics that focus more on the academic and personal accomplishments of an applicant. Our process is thoughtful and designed to ensure that the Board of Admissions has the opportunity to not only learn about the individual student but also to envision how he or she will impact and enrich the campus community. Ultimately, our goal is to bring together students who are united by a common interest in learning, and whose varied life circumstances, interests, and talents contribute to the dynamic educational environment of the University.
We know that the pandemic continues to present new challenges for you as you help your students navigate the college admissions process.
