I have a penchant for "smelling the rat" as in Hamlet's world....dissimulation, espionage, undermining stances.....my theory is that if you do good, you chase the hypocrisies away. I find it interesting that I had to stop printing our manuals as copies were being ferreted away....but I am flattered that I am being mimetically represented. It is an honour but also a burden.
In teaching our students, I simply pour in a bout of love, sweat and tears, the results usually flow. And should I add, loads of laughter and reading. With that, I can easily say that our success comes happenstance, but from a healthy classroom of open discussion, care and hard work by the students. No need to ape the style. Just nurture. Smile.
