The Wolmer's Boys' Virtual Boarding School Fair

So, yes, I am biased. I chose Wolmer's, my alma mater, to host the 2023 Virtual Boarding School Fair.

Stuck in an airport terminal, I managed to coordinate and present six North American schools to an audience of 100 and more students and parents. I even had our Dominican contingents participate. The evening went well for these schools:

St. John's- Kilmarnock (Can)

St. Andrew's - Rhode Island

Upper Canada (Canada)

The Brook Hill School (TX)

St. George's School ( Canada)

Stanstead ( Canada)

Despite the general announcements over the loudspeaker, we pulled off the event! We thank all our participants.

Well, last Saturday, our students took the year's first exam. We do hope they fared well. We will see in 10 days' time.

SAT

December's exam should be a blow-out. All centers are booked to capacity...so if you failed to register on time, why not try the Nov 19th onlne SAT exam. Still an option...

It has been a valuable lesson in time management skills, listening and executing one's organizational plans.

Congrats!

Dear Sandra,

These are exciting times at Salve Regina University. As we celebrate our diamond anniversary (75 years!), our community continues to grow in prominence and reputation thanks to our commitment to educating the whole student as we prepare them for success in a 21st century economy. More important, we remain steadfast in instilling the values of our mission that encourages our students and graduates to work for a world that is harmonious, just, and merciful. Recently we held an open house for prospective students. I invite you to view my welcome presentation from this event and share it with your students and families. I believe this will give you a nice primer as to why Salve is on the rise. Here is an update on what is new at Salve that I believe deserves your attention:

  • Salve was recently included in Princeton Review’s BEST 388 COLLEGES edition

  • The Seahawks will join the NEWMAC Athletic Conference in fall 2023, joining colleges like MIT, WPI, Wellesley, Mt. Holyoke, Clark, Coast Guard, and Emerson

  • Our Options Trading Club recently placed 5th at the Student Management Investment Fund Consortium’s contest in Chicago

  • Our fall 2022 entering class was the most diverse in our history, with 20% of students identifying as BIPOC and reflecting the University’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

  • Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan kicked off the University’s slate of 75th anniversary speakers in a conversation with Pell Center Executive Director Dr. Jim Ludes that garnered national attention

  • The University began rolling out a signature integrated education program that promotes meaningful experiential learning opportunities throughout four years on campus, including a Sophomore Summer in Newport where students will blend theory with practice while enjoying one of America’s great resort cities at the height of tourist season

  • U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona visited Salve to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pell Grants

  • Many Salve students have earned grants and fellowships; presented research at regional and national conferences; worked with local government and entrepreneurs to provide econometric research and assistance with innovation for Newport, Rhode Island, and the blue economy; and created art that shines a light on the challenges of our society

At Salve, we invite our students to arrive to a one-of-a-kind location to enjoy a transformative education that empowers our graduates to change the world. Inspired by the critical concerns of the Sisters of Mercy, Salve Regina University is uniquely positioned to prepare leaders who understand the structural issues that impact society so they can have a positive impact and be the change the world needs. Now more than ever, our world needs Salve graduates. I invite you to encourage your students to join our community.

Please feel free to contact me or any member of my staff if we can be of assistance. Thank you for the important work you do to impact the lives of your students.

Sincerely,

James R. Fowler, Jr.

Vice President for Enrollment Management
