THE BLACK FAMILY'S GUIDE TO COLLEGE ADMISSIONS
I read this book in one night. Interesting details inside. It had an undertone of promoting Historically Black Colleges. But it also had savvy tips for people of color.
Here are some of the colleges they are showcasing:
Mississippi Valley State
Coppin State University
Clark Atlanta University
Bowie State University
West Virginia State University
Jackson State University
Prairie View A& M
North Carolina A&T State University
Take a look, you could be pleasantly surprised. Affordability is a "real" factor. And there has been a resurgence of interest in these schools.
But go buy the book, worth a good read!
See you next week.
Do your applications have you going ? We've been there! Students often have questions on the Activities & Impact section, so we're hosting a webinar this week to help walk you through creating your strongest application.
Each year, we ask students to tell us about how they occupy time outside of class and how they contribute to their communities. During this session, admission officers will discuss how to complete your activities section and provide tips on how to choose and articulate your community contributions. This is a very popular event so claim your spot now!

Thank you for stopping by the Creative UK Booth at the NACAC Conference in Baltimore. I hope you had an enjoyable and successful conference. I’m writing to re-connect, and to inform you of some upcoming events which may be of interest to you and your students.
The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) is a small, specialist provider of creative and performing arts courses. Co-founded by Sir Paul McCartney, who remains our Lead Patron, we teach across Acting, Applied Theatre, Dance, Filmmaking, Management, Music, Musical Theatre, Performance Design, Production Technology and Sound Technology. Together, we make performance possible. Our 1,000 students work together, as they would in the industry to create and stage over 50 productions per year. Roughly 25% of our students come from outside of the UK, representing over 40 countries worldwide. Between 5% and 7% of our student population is from the USA.
The city of Liverpool has an international reputation as a cultural hub. More museums, galleries, and listed buildings than any UK city outside of London, the city is also England’s only UNESCO City of Music and listed in The Guiness Book of Records as the ‘World Capital of Pop’. It is also a favourite film industry location, a digital and design city and a festival city.
