“Down with the SAT!”

In 2024, SAT will be rendered digital. Why do I want to see the demise of the SAT? Simple. The exam has never been a true reflection of a student’s intellectual ability. One may wonder and say reflexively why would Versan proverbially stab themselves in the foot by taking this position? Years of experience (26 in total) have shown that the test cannot accurately predict academic success, only a student can. Hasn’t Harvard banned SAT for the next 5 years?

Despite a nullification of SAT, students doing the March exam, get registered, changes are not till 2024.

Those students leaving in 2023, time to talk about some consultation re pre-planning issues!

Dear Sandra,

Greetings from Claremont McKenna College (CMC). We understand the stress and anxiety that comes along with this time of the admission cycle. Our office thanks you for the support you provide to your students, as well as the partnerships we've developed with you. We hope you find time to rest and reflect in the coming weeks.

We'd like to give you advance notice that next Thursday we will be sending a missing documents email notification to our Regular Decision applicants. Our records indicate that one or more of your students have applied RD to CMC. Before we contact your students, we want you to have a chance to review their status and identify which documents are missing. To do so, please log into Slate.org where you can view and upload missing documents.

We understand that materials may currently be en route to our office. Please notify admission@cmc.edu if you submitted materials more than 3-4 days ago and they are still listed as missing. Friendly reminder: All application materials for RD applicants are due by February 15.

CMC continues to be test-optional this admission cycle, and accepts self-reported test scores. Students who choose to include their test scores with their application can self-report their ACT or SAT scores through their CMC applicant portal. Additionally, applicants may update their test-optional preference through their CMC applicant portal during the week following their application submission.

If you have any questions please contact us at admission@cmc.edu or (909) 621-8088.

Sincerely,

Office of Admission

Spring 2022 Schedule

Attend as many fairs as you wish! Click below to see a list of colleges that will share information about their programs, majors, financial aid, and more on each fair date. Additional colleges will be added throughout the spring.

Connect Virtually

COVID-19 has limited the opportunities for you to visit, learn about, and connect with colleges. We aim to bridge that gap through these special one-day events.

At each virtual fair, you can attend presentations by colleges, ask questions, and demonstrate interest... all without leaving home.

All of our fairs will also feature MatchMaking! At the time of registration, students will select the attributes that are most important to them in a college. They will then receive an email that best matches them to the specific colleges and universities based on the criteria they provided. Students can reference this email on the day of the fair to connect with their best-matches! Make sure to encourage your students to register early so they can take advantage of this great new feature.

Watch this short video for how-to information. And, be sure to sign up at nacacattend.org/fairs well before each fair date!

In-Person College Fairs

Did you know NACAC is offering a limited series of in-person National College Fairs this spring? If you live in California, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey or Pennsylvania, we are coming to a city near you. If your state isn’t on this list, we may be headed your way this fall.

Dear Colleagues,

Happy New Year! The admissions team is hard at work reading and evaluating the record number of applications we've received for fall 2022. Though the task is daunting, we take great care to ensure that each application gets the personal review that your students deserve. We also understand that the past year required tremendous flexibility and adaptation from schools in terms of curriculum, grading and technical challenges. Our team is taking all of these circumstances into consideration and we are committed to looking for the strengths in each student. Though the pool of applicants may be extraordinarily large, we know each file represents a student with unique qualifications and gifts.
