AS THE DAYS TURN....
As the days turn, we realize the year is coming to an end. What a year! We battle against Covid 19, superstition, misinformation, crime, cults, incest, child abuse, WiFi challenges, boring classes, exam results.....yet, we have a hungry, desperate group of children who keep looking for opportunities beyond our shores. They seek brighter days, they watch enough Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, peering at the news...hoping against hope, they can make their mark on the world. As the days turn....
However, this overwhelming ball of burdens have calcified a few....energized some and overcharged others. Many are still not practicing enough. But we can lead students to the water, we cannot force them to drink....Aaaah.....
So here is a list of items that students can check off to be up to date with where they should be in the process.
1) Register for your SAT exam, deadline is November 4.
2) Complete your applications, be it online or the commonapp.org...that includes all essays, resume (if necessary), Invitation to counselors and teachers....and submitted online applications
3) If a Jamaican, you should have done your CSS Profile and your ISFAA forms for financial aid.
4) See that passports are not going to expire tomorrow.
5) Put all study plans in place to beat the exam - get books, work with online resources....
“Rigor doesn’t have to be rigid, and at Reed, it seldom is.” —Reed College President Audrey Bilger Dear Sandra,
At Reed, you’ll find learners who refuse to be contained by the confines of a classroom or the bounds of a discipline. You’ll find psychology students who write poetry, poets who study political science, science majors who are majorly into music, and a caring community of creators, thinkers, and adventurers. For Reed College President Audrey Bilger, Reed is a force for good in the world. Watch Audrey share what makes Reed special, from a world-class faculty to a culture of intellectual curiosity that knows no bounds.
Sandra, if Audrey is describing the type of community that you’d like to be a part of, then we’d love to share more about the Reed College experience. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or check out our upcoming events. Sincerely,
Dev Devvrat Senior Assistant Dean of Admission

LET'S TALK ABOUT TEST-OPTIONAL
If a student applies without an ACT or SAT test score, will that hurt their chances for admission or scholarships?
You're invited to join us on Nov. 9 via Zoom as we answer that question and other commonly asked admission questions about deadlines, activities, and essays. You'll also have the chance to ask us questions about the college search and application process.
If you have any questions about Cornell College, please call, text, or email me. Don't forget to recommend a student if you know someone who would like to study One Course At A Time. Best wishes,
Drew Shradel Director of Admission 800-747-1112 email@example.com

The lasting impact of COVID-19 and the current fluctuation within the field of admissions, cannot be overstated enough. Additionally, we recognize the tremendous challenge our counseling colleagues face this season trying to support students and families in their college search process amidst imperfect and evolving information. As part of the Metropolitan University (MET) group, admissions leadership from the University of Miami, George Washington University, Northeastern University, New York University, Southern Methodist University, and Tulane University invite college and career counselors to join us for a moderated panel discussion to learn more about our institutions and how your students can navigate the nuances of the process. We hope you can join us.

AN EXPERIENCE THAT EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS
We’ve always known that Rice University is a special place, and the newest rankings seem to agree. This year, we're one of only four universities that made it onto 11 of Princeton Review's "Great Lists," including Great Quality of Life, Happy Students and LGBTQ-Friendly.
Alongside the recognition of our vibrant community comes equally exciting news about our academics. U.S. News & World Report placed us at no. 6 for Best Undergraduate Teaching and no. 17 for National Universities. Niche has similar things to say about Rice – we’re no. 7 for Best Colleges in America, and we have 16 academic programs that rank in the top 10.
Our classroom experiences are one of the things that makes Rice unique – explore all of our academic programs by visiting our website.
