A note from Director Lydia Mann:

As I start my fifth admissions cycle here at Clark, I’m writing to you with one of the best updates I’ve been able to share yet. I’m lucky: I work for an institution that is trying to get this right. We don’t always get there without making mistakes, and we are still working on some goals and destinations, but Clark is a place where the head and the heart work in concert with one another. I’ve been privileged to send updates like “we’re removing the application fee,” “we now meet full need in Early Decision rounds,” and “we are expanding our academic offerings in innovative, powerful new ways with the Becker School of Design & Technology.” And now, five years in, I get to send another. Starting this year, the CSS Profile will no longer be required for domestic students applying for need-based financial aid at Clark (all students are automatically considered for merit scholarships). Domestic students only need to fill out the FAFSA and a Clark form that is no longer than 10 questions. Of all the things we’ve done to increase access and simplify the admissions process in this office, this might be the most impactful, in my opinion. For anyone who has themselves filled out a CSS Profile or sat with a student or guardian while they attempted to fill it out, it’s not easy, it’s not intuitive, and it keeps people who are otherwise qualified for admissions from completing their applications at Clark. So it is G-O-N-E! I’m grateful to the leadership we have here at Clark. We’d love to host you on campus so you can meet folks like our Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid, Meredith Twombly, and our Director of Financial Assistance, Jennifer Lawton. We are always excited to get to know you and your needs better, and we hope this makes a difference for your students and their families. Notes: The new, short “Clark form” will be available on or around October 15. If your students and/or families have any questions as they fill out the FAFSA or new form, please have them reach out to their counselor or a counselor in financial aid. It’s our job and our pleasure to help. International students still need to fill out the CSS Profile because they are not eligible to fill out the FAFSA. We are happy to talk with anyone who has any questions surrounding this policy. I wish you all a smooth application season ahead. And, at this time of year, I always wish for your students healthy growth that results in new possibilities. Best, Lydia More news from admissions:

  • The rankings are out: Clark has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report for our teaching, value, and success as a small research university. Read more about the 2022-2023 rankings release.

  • Do you know a student interested in interactive media/game design? Encourage them to attend one of our Becker School of Design & Technology (BSDT) Preview Days this fall to learn more about the program; our new Center for Media Arts, Computing, and Design; and student outcomes. See upcoming BSDT Preview Days.

  • This fall, Clark will continue to meet 100% of demonstrated need for students who apply and are admitted under Early Decision. Learn more about the pros and cons of ED at Clark.
