Dear Sandra,
Greetings from Barnard! I hope you had a restful summer and fantastic start to your school year. We are back in full swing at Barnard and our admissions officers are back on the road!
Barnard had another banner year with an application increase of 16%. For more stats on the Class of 2026, please view our Class Profile.
Here are some quick updates to assist you in guiding your students this year.
First-Year Interviews - We will not offer optional evaluative interviews for first-year applicants this year. As always, we will review all applicants holistically. We encourage your students to engage with our current students via our Intro to Student Life @Barnard virtual chats and our alumnae through additional programming.
Temporary Test-Optional Policy - Barnard will remain test-optional for Fall 2023 and Fall 2024. Last year, approximately 50% of our applicant pool applied test optional and 50% of our incoming class did not submit scores. For more guidance around our policy, please visit our FAQ.
Barnard Bound - Our Barnard Bound program will remain virtual for this year. Barnard Bound is open to all students of color and will be held on October 7-8. Registration is limited and will open this weekend! Please direct your students to our website for more information.
Bridgewater Scholars - We are excited to partner with Bridgewater Associates, the world's largest hedge fund, to provide a four-year mentoring program for select number of students interested in finance and investment careers. Students can indicate their interest on the Common App. For more information, please see our website.
New English Department Chair - Barnard Alumna and Pulitzer Prize winner Jhumpa Lahiri '89 joins the Barnard faculty this fall as the Millicent C. McIntosh Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing.

Greetings from Bentley University!
Our “Admission 101: Guiding you through the College Admission Process” series continues with a blog post about helping your students understand all of their options when applying to college.
After all, deciding where to apply to college is stressful enough, but what about when to apply? Many colleges offer various application deadlines — early decision, early action, regular decision and more — so it’s important to know the details of each before deciding which is best. Our seasoned admission team shares its advice on how your students can decide the appropriate application option for them. Check it out today!
We hope this information, and our entire Admission 101 series, give you another tool for helping your students’ college searches stay on schedule.
Also, your students and their families are invited to join us at our upcoming Fall Open House on Sunday, October 2. Sandra, the November 1 early admission deadline for the University of Miami is just one month away. Here are a few reasons we encourage your students to consider applying early to UMiami and how to do so.
Applying early is a great way to demonstrate interest in a college.
Early admission plans have higher admission rates nationwide.
Early applicants at UMiami are considered for Premier Scholarships.
Early applicants will get their admission decision sooner.
Early applicants can take their time planning their first semester on campus!
Again, thank you for helping to shape your students’ futures and for all the support you provide them during the college search process. I look forward to staying in touch! Sincerely,
