Applications and Financial Aid forms in, parents and students will receive a volley of emails. These should tell you what is missing, what you need to do. Become inventive, listen, act and follow up.
Should a school say in an e-mail, we do not accept the financial aid form, reply, "worry not", " let me know what I need to do, and it is done!"
Listen, Act, Follow up. This is the landscape of college admissions, forever changing, new rules (that seep in so quietly) reversing years of normal practice.
Good news is that Versan parents started and finished early. So any adjustments that need tweaking, we can do it early. Fear not. We are all Versaners, we will all make the finish line.
SAT
This weekend, a bulk of students whose center closed in October at Priory are sitting the exam for the first time.
They have been studying, the forms and apps are in, just the exam left.
Please ensure your laptop or device meets the standard set by Collegeboard for the Blue Digital SAT exam.
Be calm.
Have your tickets, ID'S ready.
Get to your center by 7:45 a.m.
Practice just 2 days before doing an online exam.....just to feel comfortable with a digital exam, clock ticking down in right hand corner...the material you have slogged through for 3 months, so it is simply moving the mouse, watching the clock and sitting for 2 and a half hours.
Break a leg, guys! Make us all proud....
See you next week.
Discover Chapman at these virtual events
Hi Sandra,
As a reminder, Chapman University's Early Action and Early Decision (as well as Film & Television Production) application deadline is Wednesday, November 1. From the entire Chapman Office of Admission, thank you for helping your students find and apply to their best fit college.
Also, just after the application deadline, we are launching Discover Chapman Events. This is our annual open house virtual event series-that runs from November 2-16.
What makes this different from our other, year-round offerings is the number of one-off, unique events we offer during this period, including:
More than three dozen information sessions for individual academic programs, in areas from the arts to business to humanities to STEM fields. This is a great chance for your students to hear directly from faculty and students in the program(s) they are interested in.
Exclusive student life events, including sessions about living on campus, student clubs & organizations and sessions for our Hispanic, Black and LGBTQIA+ students.
Events to assist family members throughout the application process, including a Financial Aid Information Session on Thursday, November 9 from 4-5 p.m. Pacific Time and a Parent Information Session on Sunday, November 12 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
...plus much more. For all of our events, parents/legal-guardians are welcome to attend with or without their student. While registering, the student just needs to answer "yes" to a family member wanting to receive a copy of the registration confirmation. Registration is only available for students and their families; however we would be happy to have you join! Please message our office directly at visit@chapman.edu with the session(s) you wish to join and we can provide you a Zoom link to join the session(s). Thank you in advance for passing on details about DCE and any individual sessions to students and family members that might be interested
Sandra,
We know this is a busy time for you, so we'll get right to the important information you need to know going into November (see below).
In the meantime, please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance to you.Go Jackets!Danielle Foote

The Early Action 2 (EA-2) deadline for non-Georgia residents is November 1. The document deadline is November 15, and students may self-report test scores by January 2. Deadlines for the year are here. It's Time for Students to Apply for Financial Aid!Due to the FAFSA Simplification Act, the FAFSA will not be available until December 2023. Due to the compressed timeline to apply for financial aid this year, we encourage students to begin the financial aid process EARLY. Now more than ever, it's critical that students start their financial aid applications as soon as possible.
First-year students should complete the following applications to be considered for all types of aid at Tech. The priority deadline to apply for aid is January 31, 2024.

Have a fang-tastic Halloween!
Greetings to our counseling community, and a Happy Halloween to you all! As we step into the season of falling leaves and spooky celebrations, college applications are top of mind for many, especially with early deadlines on the horizon. As November 1 approaches, here are some timely reminders to assist both you and your students:
Submission deadlines. It's easy to underestimate the time required to complete applications, and some students may be tempted to wait until the last minute to submit. Please remind students they must complete and submit their application by 11:59 pm, their local time.
Search writing requirements by college. Our writing requirements resource provides guidance to students on what writing questions they can expect within individual college questions.
Need assistance? Don't forget that our Solutions Center Team is your reliable support system, available 24/7/365, to address any questions or concerns you or your students may have.
Better FAFSA 2024-25. Making college more affordable is a top concern for many applicants and their families. Thankfully, there are numerous options available to ease the financial burdens associated with pursuing higher education. The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), known as the Better FAFSA, is scheduled to launch in December 2023.
The Better FAFSA introduces several improvements:
A shorter and more user-friendly form
Expanded eligibility for Pell Grants
Reduced verification requirements
These changes are designed to extend financial aid to even more students, making college dreams more attainable. To get ready for the Better FAFSA, the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) and Federal Student Aid (FSA) have compiled resources for members and partners. For additional assistance in planning and financing college, explore our Paying for college and Family resource sections, which provide various tools and strategies.

Hello Sandra! Happy Friday from the College of New Jersey! TCNJ has always been recognized as one of the best value's in higher education. We're excited to make TCNJ an even more attractive option for out-of-state families by expanding our merit scholarship program from $1,000-$6,000 to $1,000-$12,000 per year. Coupled with our tuition re-set in 2021, when we scaled back our out-of-state tuition rate by approximately $7,000, TCNJ has never been more affordable to academically successful students seeking to join our community of learners here in Jersey.
Please share this scholarship expansion with your colleagues and students. Our Out-of-State Admissions Team would love to welcome them to campus on November 18th for our final Lions Day Open House this fall. Feel free to connect with us anytime... we're here to support you! Take care, The TCNJ Out-of-State Admissions Team
