Greetings from Lawrence Tech! I want to take a minute to acknowledge the tremendous job that you're doing on behalf of your students. During this time of uncertainty, I commend you for your tireless work to be a source of stability for these students that have been forced to face so many changes and challenges. With that, I want to let you know that we are here for you and your students as well. Over the past couple of months, we have worked hard to ensure that we have a variety of ways to connect with your students. Additionally, we have made some changes to help your students in the application process. Test-Optional for Fall 2021 In order to protect the health and well-being of all students, LTU has adopted a test-optional policy for Fall 2021 freshmen applicants. Standardized test scores are not required for admission. Additionally, standardized test scores are not required to receive scholarships, and students who are unable to submit test scores will not be disadvantaged in the merit scholarship process. For students who submit ACT or SAT scores, these will be considered supplemental information and used for determining placement assessments. Visit Opportunities We understand that students and families may or may not be comfortable with visiting public spaces yet. For those that are comfortable, we are offering personal one-on-one campus tours. Students and guests are required to wear a mask, and we follow all social distancing guidelines. Students can register for campus tours here. Additionally, if you have any students interested in the College of Architecture and Design, our Dean and Associate Dean have also made themselves available to guide students on a personal tour. We do understand that families may find it difficult to make it to campus in person. For that reason, we have created a number of virtual events to allow your students to get all the information they need from us. These events range from Application Workshops to one-on-one virtual meetings with faculty or athletic coaches. The table below provides all of our virtual opportunities.
Please feel free to share this with students and families.

Respectful greetings from the University of Massachusetts Boston!
Dear Guidance Counselor Sandra Bramwell,
Respectful greetings from the University of Massachusetts Boston! Autumn is the time of year that we who work in international college admissions would normally be traveling to participate in college fairs and to visit schools in-person -- what a difference a pandemic makes. We sincerely hope your school opening is going as smoothly as possible under the challenging circumstances. We really do miss the face-to-face aspect of our recruitment work but we want to let you know that we remain ready and excited to engage with your community, albeit in online formats, in order to share information about what UMass Boston has to offer your students poised to embark on one of the most exciting and transformative periods of their lives. UMass Boston is the city’s only public research university, with a top-flight faculty committed as much to teaching as research; and Boston itself is the cultural hub of the New England region, nicknamed “America’s College Town” -- more than 340,000 students study at more than 80 institutions of higher learning in this metropolitan area.
If your school is planning any virtual college fairs or other recruitment activities, please do let us know so that we can represent UMass Boston. On our side, if it works for you to have us offer a virtual information session for your students and parents, we’d love to arrange it-- for any size group, at whatever time is convenient. We would use a secure Zoom platform (registration required).
In the meantime, you can share the links below with students and parents who wish to get to know UMass Boston better; and folks can interact anytime through our ongoing chat, zoom, and/or email channels, and also take advantage of some of our scheduled special events:
• https://go.oncehub.com/InternationalAppointment On this page, you can schedule personal appointments with our International Admissions team to learn about living and learning in Boston, and we can also assist with the application process & answer questions.
• https://admissions.umb.edu/international-students/events On this page, you can access one-on-one live chat with a UMass Boston student about academics, student life, the campus community.
• https://finaid.umb.edu/undergraduate/scholarships
• Take a look at our new academic buildings, science labs, new student residences, and beautiful scenic waterfront setting overlooking the Boston Harbor islands of Massachusetts Bay.
We look forward to hearing back from you, but please feel free to refer your students to us directly, too. Our best wishes for a successful school year. Thank you very much for your time.
