THE F-1 STUDENT VISA WEDNESDAY BLOG

Dear Folks:

I have visa applications coming through my ears.  For those of you who missed the Farewell Ceremony, please contact Ms.Livingston for the notes.  I am getting all these cryptic messages of misunderstanding as to what is relevant for the embassy.

Let us get this straight this week: I-20 is very important.  Proving you can pay your balance is the second next big step.  Once those two items are done, the rest is history. Come to see us for the rest.

As we say farewell, some of our overseas students at Worcester Polytechnic University in Massachusetts sent me their photos to show that they now will embark on their engineering, actuarial science careers.  Some of you can now see your four years ahead.  I cannot attend all graduation ceremonies, but I welcome the pictures! (Big grin!) Thanks Mrs. Aldith Williams for the gorgeous picture....Is that Obasare's locks (my fellow Wolmerian?) - oh boy!!!!
To think I had just sent these students off four years ago.  Guess what?  Most have secured jobs, save one...Good!  And guess why I said network, network, network...from Freshman year!!!!!

DOMINICA

By June 7th, I will be on the island of Dominica.  I will be speaking to students and parents on the northern part of the island as well as the southern tip of the island.  I should be back in office on the 12th of June.  For those unfamiliar with the flag, do check out as we will be in many collaborative ventures with the isle of Dominica after this...setting up the Athletic Overseas Program as well as their SAT/SSAT/GRE/GMAT programs.

This is just a notion of things to come between Dominica and Jamaica....

Don't forget The Passions Workshop to be held soon...Cannot find your passion?  Need some help? Attend Ms. Elizabeth Terry's camp to ascertain in which direction you need to go...

THe LABOR DAY DELAY WED/THUR BLOG

DEAR FANS:

I DID NOT FORGET THE BLOG!  I simply took a Labour Day stroll working to improve the mnemonic community so as to recharge Versan for the rest of the year.  I was busy organizing fairs for Jamaica, Dominica, Guyana - fairs for boarding and all else.....STRESS!

I welcome my UWI and UTECH readers, especially the readers who need our services for European and Asian placements.  Just a word to the wise, there is a wonderful Medical Dental, Engineering school in Hungary, please check this out.

I am also intrinsically enthusiastic about the explosion of interest in China, Russia, Poland, Germany and Spain.  I am finally happy that we have pushed beyond the shores of the United States and we are looking at the global village.  Thanks, all my resources are now working.  For those in Finland, I am glad that you received full scholarships and so charmed by one of our UTECH engineers who made it into the prestigious Chalmers School of Technology in Sweden.

The article on the Caribbean community in China shows that we are large abroad and we can push the boundaries beyond the US and Canada.  Let us just watch the scholarship opportunities...

Congrats to a few late acceptances:

Brandon Dell - New York Institute of Technology/New Jersey Institute of Technology

Jabari Fuller: Rutgers, Mercyhurst and South Carolina State

Suzanne Knibbs (Boarding School) - Washington Academy

I know most are in the throes of CXC and CAPE, keep doing what you do well.

To those with early acceptances to UWI and UTECH, we salute you...

To those still waiting on Wait-Lists, we wait andpray with you that we can also breathe a sigh of relief...

To Chirag Khemlani who made University of Chicago..

And please, to those leaving next 2013, do check us for Summer Activities, there is lots going for Architecture, Creative Writing, and many other pursuits!

Yes, we are assisting many with their visas...

And for the June 2 exam coming, please study and I must say I am loving some of the May results!!!! Go Javier for the score in Chemistry.....

Okay, so all the hoopla of the Farewell Ceremony is settling and all our students are busy with final exams.

My fingers have never typed so fast assisting all with their visa applications.  I am not giving props to  Bryan's Studio but the quality of the pictures taken there are always passed by the US embassy's visa online application forms.  I hate to process a form without the pictures.

Congrats to those who already have their visas.  I noticed that I am now getting dates as far as June 11.  So the embassy has gotten busy!  Such is our luck, come on guys, get your acts together....

Congrats are also in order for our Princeton student Sean-Paul Ashley who recently had his article published in one of their Political Science Journals...a career in academia?

And to those headed to Boarding schools, please note that you can take an AP EXAM, you do not have to do the class, it is like studying for SSAT or SAT, so though I would like to see several AP classes, we can forego and do the studies on our own and get the results under the belt...

Thanks Daille for that information!!!!

Congrats to Rushell Reid at Bard University for winning another Leadership and Merit Scholarship...Keep on doing what you do...

SUMMER JOBS

We have jobs in China with a monthly stipend, boarding, and  in three areas:Marketing Analyst, International Business Assistant, Hotel Management Trainee IT Support Engineer.  if you are interested, please make an appointment for the job descriptions and the process.

GREAT SUMMER SCHOOLS/PROGRAMS

One of my favorites is Dr. Maxine Gossell-Williams' "Summer Drug Research Experience" at UWI's Pharmocology Section for students ages 14 - 18.  It runs July 16-19 or 23- 26, 2012.  Email:summerdrugresearch@gmail.com.

Those interested in Art, while visiting Seattle this summer, look at the Pratt Fine Arts Summer Program - fabulous courses, taking place in July.  info@pratt.org.(Email)

I am also a fan of The Frye Art Museum Summer Camp, especially Bookmaking and Sketching for Journals (broaden your myopic scopes, dear children)  fryemuseum.org...

From June 20 to August 27, visit www.kirklandsartscenter.org and find an interesting niche for yourself!

For those of you seeking a Christian Camp, there are those who know Moorlands, but here is one that has that component but keeps Maths in the picture: www.passionandpurityja.com.

Wasatch Academy in Utah does filmmaking for a few weeks on the Apple comuters - screenwriting, editing and filming.  Chances of showing at the Sundance Film Festival..

Wolfeboro Academy for those who are nervous about the hard work ahead in boarding schools, a great summer camp for honing one's skills...

Edna Manley - why not?  Art program is amazing...

Why not volunteer at the Zoo? Vets in progress?

So many things to do, so little time....ask me, I have a truckload of ideas...Deaundra, where art thou?

This is it! Bring your notepads.....

May 6, 2012, come rain or shine at UWI Mona Visitor's Lodge, 5 p.m.  We expect a good outpouring of students from Montego Bay, Mandeville and Kingston.

Please RSVP by Friday - such a buffet, we have to be sure about the numbers, so call Ms. Livingston or Ms. Ricketts to confirm the numbers.

Everyone has been asking me how to dress,  I say, no jeans, shorts or scrappy tees, get the picture? Smile...Casual elegance, certainly not the prom, nor church but not Carib at 5 p.m.  Hope that helps.

There are a few awards but everyone gets such invaluable information and great food and drinks that this will not be an issue!

I also want to say that my blogs for this week and past will be short as I am reserving all my info for that big day, so much great news to share.....especially on making money and cutting costs in college.  This is a whole new ball game and game changer for our students.

And students, remember, even after the Farewell,  please note, we are an email away for queries and general assistance.

ACCEPTANCES
