THE NOT SO COLD CHICAGO TRIP WEDNESDAY BLOG

What can I say?  Illinois Institute of Technology has a dynamic campus with great professors and kids on the move!  I am featured with the best inventors/inventions done on their IPRO Day, a day where cross dsciplines come together and create a technologically savvy idea and bring it to fruition.

The first feature is the "Ghost Wire" done by an Indian-American, two African Americans, a South Korean and a Brazilian.  The "Ghost Wire" is ready for the market and these young men are poised to be billionaires soon.  This, for me, is the power of invention where science meets entrepreneurship and ideas materialize from post-it notes.  Read their Professor Vijay Kumar's book on 101 Design Methods and see Science come alive.

The second picture shows my colleagues who write the CXC papers.  They hail from Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados.  Great travel companions, loved their insights during the tour.  I fear though that after they have seen these students at work, I would be nervous about future exams they will write...Ooops!

The third pcture features another noteworthy invention. Here we have a young South Korean who along with a delightful young man from Mongolia created The Ice Box.  Note when at work or school, should you not want any prying hands to mess with your food placed in the fridge, these guys redesigned the fridge with lockers so you can place your food in an ice locker and stave off prying hands...Cool!!!!

And if you did not know the architect Mies Van der Rohe, do note that this campus has Architecture as one of its main majors and the Mies Van der Rohe buildings pervade this campus.  Even though a little pricier, when choosing a dorm at IIT, go for the SSV building, state of the art dorms and you will be sure to keep the annoying roommates at bay...IIT gets an A plus from this educational consultant!
