Hi everyone!
Yes, it is freezing MeiJun Cai and thanks for calling me just before bedtime (ha! ha!)...But congrats again for being our candidate who made it into practically every Art school he applied to..
Please note that Colgate is not far from Syracuse University and 10 minutes away from Hamilton College. It is dairy territory and in a small town. But things must be great as we are being put up in their newly renovated hotel, yes, dahlings, The Colgate Inn, exqusitely decorated. We were their first ever guests and oh so christened their beds, towels, you get the picture.
I will have Part 2 to the Colgate University visit next week, as I actually see the campus today but too late to write the blog. I am actually writing the blog at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning so why it says Tuesday, go figure! At the Faculty dinner last night, I would say from that initial dinner that Colgate has some fascinating faculty members Professor Jun in Psychology and Neurosciences, a loveable character, my Puerto Rican Multicultural Officer from New Jersey (engaging discussion), the Trinidadian Environmental Science Professor (and she remembered my name), see, quite a dynamic, multicultural staff where 40% are professors of Color...trying to be as international as possible...So Graeme Welds, our recently admitted student to Colgate, some possibilities here...
More College Acceptances Stars
Gabrielle Barnett's record scholarship to Mount Holyoke University attests to the fact that scores are not the critical factor but the content of the application.
The boys just keep getting better as I had predicted before the acceptance letters started rolling out....I simply kept on saying that the boys were some of my best essay writers and score recipients this year. The acceptances have thus far confirmed my predictions. Here are a few more stellar ones...and might i add even one young man is being flown up to the majordomo Notre Dame to see the school, they like him that much...go boys! Khamal may have lost in the School Challenge Quiz production against Ardenne, but he made up when he got into Columbia University..David made Stanford, his dream school and Jordan to Cornell..How about Chad Hucey who made it into Worcester Polytechnic, his dream school (he had visited them last year on his summer school choice, more later in this blog on summer schools)
Graeme Welds: Bates, Swarthmore,Bowdoin, Colgate
Jordan Thompson:Amherst, University of Chapel Hill, Vanderbilt, Cornell and Rice University
Phillip Pryce: Bentley, Northeastern, Notre Dame
Khamal Clayton: Columbia University
Mark Levy: University of British Columbia, McGill, Wesleyan University, University of Miami, University of Toronto
Chad Hucey: Worcester Polytechnic University
David Young: Stanford University, Columbia University and Vassar College
Kimberly Tate: Worcester Polytechnic
Jason Murray - Santa Clara University
To our Graduate student, Andrina Powell who got a record scholarship to do her Master's in Architecture at the University of Maryland. She will not be charged the fees for international students, but in-state fees for locals, amassed a teaching assistant position, an RA position for free room and board, should I go on? Good going to our GRE student...
Natalie Edwards of St. Andrew's High fame, congrats to you on attaining your schools in the shortest time I have ever had to prepare a student for consultation: Marist College, Quinnipiac University, Alfred University and Gonzaga University. Also congrats to Kimberley Tate on her acceptance to Worcester Polytechnic University!
Good shot guys!
SSAT Seminar at the Chinese Restaurant this Saturday, April 2, 2011. Should be fun! "From Acceptance to What Next"..catered by Ms. Margaret Silvera...Oh and do not get jealous, you other groups, the big to do is coming in May, and that's a grand gala, but we have to take care of the babies first. They have a deadline to commit to their schools by this April 10-that's why the rush!
Hey Rushell!
This is our drop dead gorgeous student visiting from Bard University who has managed to stay trim because of a heavy dance rotation there (hint to my students coming back to say hi -participate in a physical activity whilst away!!!)..We also congratulate her on making it China again this summer (yes, she now converses in Chinese and can overhear conversations in airport lobbies) and was made a Resident Advisor..know that great job that gives you free room and board whilst having your own apartment with a salary. Good going Rushell, that happens when you listen to your teacher! Good seeing you...and that curry goat..master Chef!
From the New York office!
I am returning with more options for summer programs Lower Sixers, so see me to get a view of those programs (should be back on Friday)...exciting.
The staff so worked me for the past two weeks, I was not able to complete a few chapters though I attended the BIAJ symposium to hear publishing details...Check out Jamaica's first Book Festival next year where our book will be featured. Jamaica is so cosmopolitan! No need to travel to the Miami Book Festival anymore...
See you next week for Part II to the Colgate visit..
